I am helping a friend that has more money than time. He owns a guide brokerage and is doing a bison hunt in Feb. He is using a 70 lbs. compound but wants me to make him some arrows and to select broadheads for him. I am leaning toward CX350 shafts with weight tubes. I want to make him a 700 grain arrow/head combo but am not sure what head to select. I am thinking about the Muzzy Phantom 220 Stainless steel but would like a longer, low profile head with a 3:1 aspect ratio. 2 bladed. More like a head that a trad guy would shoot. Any ideas?

Two Chucks,

I can't help you on that too much with what arrow and blade. I will tell you that he should really consider studying the skeletal structure of a Bison. The first time I saw one, I was shocked when I realized their backstrap has to be at least 3 times the diameter of a deer.

He has more bravery than I do. I wouldn't harvest one of those unless it was with a rifle. I do hope that he has a rifle backing him up in the event that it charges?

Not exactly 1 thingbut ill try and recall the show. It annoyed me so I didnt pay intent attention to it.
If I remember right.
he started out saying hes shooting a bow hes never shot before ( It was a compound) He was shooting it traditional with no sights. He shot it 2 or 3 times none of the shots really penetrated well the hunt dragged on with him shooting the thing. I dont know maybe its just me. Between neither the animal he was shooting repeatedly or the herd seemed to care he was there. He was walking around upright and getting close shots. If he was following around a black and white cow names betsy it would have been no less entertaining. All in all to me it appeared to be be just poorly done and if it was my hunting show I would surely have not aired it nor been acting like it was some holy expierence definatly after the 1st arrow the thing didnt look wounded or really bleeding out infact there seemed only to be a small stain around the arrow hole and it went about its business. I dont know.. I can tell im rambling on now but yeah my opinion of that episode was more of a cringed pained feeling like watching a video of somone getting kicked in the crotch or hit by a car or somthing then anything else.

Dont confuse my opinion of what happed on this one episode as me not agreeing with hunting buffalo or the nuge. I watch his show all the time and enjoy it. I also would gladly plug a buffalo if given the chance. Just from what I saw on the show Id want anything but it go that way.

I think when I was at Custards State Park in South Dakota they said you could hunt the Buffaloe there for You Ready For this?......$10,000.

No Thanks.
