Just checking to see what type of ammo/bullets you guys like to use.  I've heard really good reports on Hornady SST's, Winchester Ballistic Silver Tip, and Federal Premium Vital Shock.

What's your favorite?  Any thoughts on the ones I've just mentioned?

I have used the Winchester Silver Ballistic tip in 115 gr .25-06 for over five years with great success.  My primary whitetail rifle is a Browning A-bolt II Medallion with a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10x42.  In those five + years I have taken over 15 deer with this combination from 40 yds to 295 yds & from 100 lbs to over 250 lbs.

As for the other brands you mentioned I have no first-hand knowledge of them.  They may be just as good or possibly even better.

I would go with one of two choices for my 270,Hornady 140 grn SST or 130 grn Remington CorLokt. My 7mm does best with 154 grn Hornday Boat tail spire point.

.270 130 grain Winchester Ballistic SilverTips!

It appeears that bullet disintegrated,on impact, I,myself would use a heavier bullet. JMO

I have used the regular winchester 270 130 gr  silver tips for years with great success. I purchased a few boxes the last time I bought them plus a few boxes of bullets for reloading, so I don't even know if they are still available. But when I connect with them the deer don't go at all or just a few yards.

i find ammo of the unfired variety works best

Last year I used 140 gain rem corelockts in a .280 rem and they worked pretty good. I just sighted in my new rifle yesterday .300 weatherby 165 grain nosler ballistic tips hopefully they work well on deer, they group under an inch so im happy with that anyway.

I reload Hornady SST's in 165 gr for my wife's 30.06 and 180 gr for my 300 win mag. They make one heck of a hole on entry and exit. With the polymer tip and boattail they are very accurate. With a good solid rest. I can shot nickle size groups at a 100 yards.

Remington core-lokt, '35rem' 150grain. Puts em down hard. If Im shotgun huntin(cant use centerfire in lower michigan) I use remington "copper soild" sabot slugs, absolutely devastating!! Yes, I'm kinda partial to remington ammunition, its never let me down!

The Nosler Partition load Federal puts out is my favorite. No matter where you hit a deer,it will come out the other side. I used to use balistic tips, but didnt like that they "explode" on impact and rarely exit the deers cavity. This means a lot less of a blood trail.
