I have taken my old bow to the pro shop to get new string and cable.I am having them put a peep sight on it also.I haven`t bow hunted for at least 15 years and am excited already.Just wondering what kind of release some of you use.I used to use one but know there are better ones available now.Let me know what you think. Thanks

This will be my first year bowhunting and Im also very excited. Do you have a string loop behind your arrow or are you clipping straight onto the string. If you are going in a loop you want a release with a hook, if clipping to the string then you want a release with 2 jaws. I have a cobra, but am looking at the tru fires at wal mart for only 20$ my buddy has one and I really like it and would recommend it to you.

I shoot a loop, and I shoot a two jaw release. I used to use a scott single jaw release, but I noticed after a while it started chewing up the loop. When I bought my new bow(this summer) I also got a new release, the tru-fire 360 elite(two jaw). Ive shot at least 350-400 arrows, and so far, no wear on the loop.

I also use a string loop, And I use a tru fire two jaw release, I have never had any loop damage with this release, I would recemend that type of release. There is a tension screw in the trigger, I turn mine way down so it is very light and touchy. I breath on it and it gose off. Very good release. IMO

Anything by tru-fire is good. My Father and I both have tru-fire releases and we both love them. He has the one with a pistol grip and i have the patriot. Good luck finding a good release!

I bought a tru fire release but I think I`m going to take it back.It has a screw to adjust the trigger pressure, but I don`t think it does anything. The trigger is so sensitive that I`m afraid if I barely touch it,it will fire.I would like to have something with more tension.I used to have the pistol type when I hunted years ago and I don`t remember it being that touchy.I think I will try to find something like that again.I`m pretty sure that it also was a tru fire.Any thoughts?

Silenthunter, which tru-fire did you get? I have the '360 elite', and it adjusts from, 'hair trigger' to (what I felt was)very heavy. You can also (on the 360) adjust the trigger"travel", as well as pressure.
