| At the end of the last hunting season I was little concerned with the amount of "hiss" coming off my arrows during flight and haven't done anything about it coming into the season.
Late in the season, a few hunting buddies noticed that my arrows were significantly louder moving through the everyone elses. I had some one shoot one of my arrows and they were definately right. Didn't fix anything last year because I was in the middle of the season and figure it's about time to look into this for the upcoming season.
I shoot Fatboys (I guess obviously could be the problem) and am pulling 70 lbs. and a matthews switchback.
Questions:
1. Does everyone agree this is a problem, especially for shots getting into the 35+ range?
2. Any suggestion on carbon arrows that coudl help with this problem. (I shoot mechanical).

| There are a couple of things you could look into:
First, what kind of vanes are you using, and are they damaged or nicked in some way? Feathered vanes will cause a hiss. Second, is it possible that your mechanicals are deploying before impact?
Although many of the newer 'high power' bows can be noisier than their lower tech brothers, it might be possible that the stiffness of the arrow is not matched to the power of the bow its being shot from producing a high flex and thus causing a hiss as the arrow tries to straighten out.
These are my suggestions, for what they are worth.

| | Yes it is a problem, when a deer "jumps the string", its not the bow he hears but the arrow itself. So, yes if you can hear that hiss, you can bet your sweet @ss a deer is going to hear it!!!!! Sounds like you might want take a trip to the local proshop. | | | |
