| | Has anyone used attractants such as Buck Grub and Deer Cain or any of the others out there? I have never tried any and always wondered if they really work. I have made salt licks before with a 50 pound sack of trace mineral salt from the co-op but it takes a couple of years before the deer really start hitting the lick hard. We had one lick at our old camp that started out as a stump about 3ft in diameter 20 years ago and is now a whole in the ground 10 ft in diameter and about 2 ft deep. We would put a bag of salt on it every year but we never really killed very many deer off of it. | | | |

| | Salt and mineral blocks(we use same stuff we use on our cows) usually work the best around here. They use the salt and mineral licks in the spring and summer months. | | Tubby The God of My Rock;He Is My Sheild; And The Horn Of My Salvation 2 Samuuel,Ch 22 | |

| I bought a 20lb. bag of Buck Grub a couple of weeks ago and put it out two Saturdays ago. After sitting one week, only one of the strip piles I laid on the ground had a paw print in it. Almost all of it had started to mold due to the fat content in it. Ants also liked the fat in it too. Other the other hand, I heard of it working well. If you really want to use bait or an "attractant", just go and buy corn. You can get 200lbs. of corn for the same price of a 20lb. bag of Buck Grub. | | Even on the hottest or coldest days, deer still eat, fish still swim, so why not go and get 'em. | |

| Here is a short list of attractants/baits that I've used in order of preference: 1. corn, whole shelled 2. sweet feed from TSC 3. peanut butter 4. grape Koolaid with the sugar already in it 5. brown trace mineral blocks 6. C'mere deer 7. molasses or a Block Topper
We don't even bother hunting over our mineral sites. Judging from game camera footage, they only hit that at night on any of mine. Just good practice to supply them with it, but the holes they dig out of an established site can get pretty impressive. I'll take some pics of my favorites and post them soon. | | | |

| I bought some stuff at Academy Sports last week,I think it's called Buck Feast,it smells just like grape Kool Aid,deer seem to like it.I think I paid $7.00 for it and it will flavor 1000lbs of corn and the ants don't seem to bother it.This is my first time trying the stuff. The only pics I have of deer eating the corn with the stuff on it are some does and a fawn(still has spots). | | Tubby The God of My Rock;He Is My Sheild; And The Horn Of My Salvation 2 Samuuel,Ch 22 | |

| | I have used Deer Caine in the psat but from what I have seen it works great during the summer but the activity tapers off dramatically around deer season here in Wisconsin. I have found the deer to be interested in Stump Licker after they stopped hitting the Black Magic. | | Only the dead have seen the end of war. Plato | |
