I was wondering who makes the best 30.-30.  I am looking at a Marlin 336W.  My step-dad also has a model 94. I wanted to know witch one is better for deer hunting and some other 30.-30.

marlin wins hands down,it is easier to mount a scope on them & they normaly are very accurate,now that being said all rifles are diffrent & certain ammo may not group well or as good as otheres,browning makes a lever or did that can shoot pointed ammo which give better ballistics,mike243

Hornady also has come out with ammo designed for lever guns that greatly improves accuracy and ballistics.

my dad has a winchester model 94 and I started out with that, I shot winchester 150 hollow points and winchester 170 gr silver tips, killed my 1st deer with it using a 170 gr silver tip

My brother's friend gave me a box of the hornady leverlution(sp?).  Never been tothe range with it so i don't know how it will perform on paper. I alos see in the city area here federal 30-30 ammo.  I have never seen it since I have been in and around the hunting section at walmart and other places.
I may buy a box or two and see how they perform.

Unless you have owned a Marlin, you might think the Winchester is an O.K. rifle. Marlin has by far the smoothest action lever gun's I have ever shot. My old 30/30 is as good as it get's.
