Wow, That's a big question. As the grandfather of three teenager's that I have helped get started in shooting and hunting, I have a lot of question's. How big are you? What do you plan on hunting? What kind of terrain do you plan on hunting? Here we hunt mountainous terrain, with most shot's at 100 yds. or less. A 243 work's well here, and is a great first time caliber. My granddaughter also shoot's a 243, and she is on the small side. A little more info, and we can help you out better.

My son is 13 and he started out with a 243 when he was 9 or 10.I would look at at the New England single shots, they are very accurate and easy to set up.Later on you can buy different barrels,my son now has a 7mm08.
I would say start out with a 243.

If it's not broke don't fix it.I am 36 and the next rifle I buy will most likely be a 243.They are a very accurate cal and will do the job very well.If you want a larger cal,try the 270.

I'm sort of confused, in your previous post on the 4th you said you had a 30-06. Why not use that?
