| | R.I.P big guy he died on the morning of 11/11/07 at 7:30 am due to a gunshot wound. he is quite tasty as being cornfed for months and no acorn crop this year. dad and i pulled into our field and he was chasing a doe, i glassed him and he turned so i told dad he was the big one and too shoot. unfortunaly dad missed hitting a high spot in our field as the buck was standing in a low spot, we drove to the lower end of the field and looked for blood, while looking for blood i saw him on the other side of the creek walking down the deer trail, i had to run past dad as he couldnt see him and shot at the deer, i waded the creek and went to look for blood i followed the trail for 25 yards and found none, for some reason i looked up and there he stood not more than 20 yards away, having three of these bucks that look so close around and this one having the closed points on the right main beam i looked at it right away and found it to be the BIG one i found his shoulder in the scope and let a shot from the 30-378 weatherby due its job he turn downhill and got caught in the fence and was just over the fence when i found him the doe ran into the field across the creek. four years ago i killed another buck which died within ten feet of this one, i think i might cut the fence so they wont be so far to drag. any way i will post a picture of the bucks the wife and i killed this past weekend and one when the taxidermist gets done with big guy. lots of luck to all this season. | | | |
