Shoot as many different bows as you can then shoot them again before you make your choice. Make sure you don't over bow yourself and get a draw weight that you can easily draw back when you are first starting. Get measured at a pro shop to ensure that you are shooting the proper draw length. Have someone who knows what they are doing watch you shoot to ensure that you are using proper form. When you sight in your bow take a few shoots with it and see where the arrows are grouping. If they are not grouping you need to ensure the bow fits you, your form is good, and there is no fletching contact. Once you get a good group with the arrows move the sight pin in the direction of the group until you are hitting the bulls eye. If you are first starting keep your targets closer to work on form and build confidence.

Wow! Way too much to try and type out. Best suggestion would be to find a reputable bow shop and ask lots and lots of questions. Ask as many knowledgeable folks as you can till you can form an opinion on which bow you want. After that, I'd go back to your bow shop and ask for pointers on how to shoot. Hunting is a skill best learned in person, with other hunters. If you can, I'd suggest you take a hunters safety class offered by your Wild Life department, and ask them about ways to expand your hunting skills. I wish I had a magic way to teach you all the things you want to know, but just telling you things in this forum would leave out huge gaps of knowledge that you need. I really, really pray you can find some good guys who'll take you under their wing.
