Inbreeding at work. Exactly why hunting and hunters are needed. Keep the population in control. This is what happens when the heard size gets bigger than what the land can contain.

It's not as rare as you think. It happens alot with species that are prone to 'twins'. What actually happens is one of the twins dies and the remaining fetus 'absorbs' the other. Normally this happens very early during the term but if it is later on, this can be the result.
