| | here is my ? ive seen videos on both the m16 and the ar15 and both claim to shoot a 5.56 or a 223 round so if the both shoot the same round what is the difference in guns if anyone has an answer please let me know | | | |

| | There are several subtle differences, mostly to keep interchangeability of parts to a minumum, but the 2 weapons are very similar. The AR-15 is the civilian version, and comes in different calibers too. The M-16 is the military's version of the weapon and originally came with a full auto fire selection (now 3 rd burst mode). The externals of the weapons look very similar, the internals and much of the trigger groups are different. THe both can be found in several different version of stocks, barrrel lengths, handguard and accessories, etc.. but are similar to the average firearms owners. | | | |
