a buddy of mine just bought a 7mm mag recently and when we went to get ammo we ran into this problem. we didnt know that there was a short shell and a long shell luckly we had the mag with us. my ? is whats the difference between the short shell vs the long shell? by the way it too the long shells.

I've allways thought a 7mm mag is a 7mm mag they make a 7mm ultra mag,7mmSTW,7mmo8,etc. maybe I'am missing something here.Fill me in on this one please.

i dont know much about 7mm but both boxes said 7mm mag just 1 box had shorter shell i will double check thow

You probably found a box of 7MM Winchester Short Mag. this is a entirely different caliber. It wont chamber in your buddys rifle. Most rifle manufacturers, roll stamp the caliber on the barrel, near the action. Never use a caliber that is not the same as the caliber your rifle is chambered for,It could be DEADLY. there are some interchangable calibers such as 38SPL, and 357Mag or 44SPL,and 44Mag. If you aren't sure of a rifle or pistols caliber, ASK A KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSON, Don't risk hurting yourself, or others. I suggest you and your buddy find some books and or magazines on rifles ,pistols,and shotguns, and study them.also spend some time in some gunshops,and ask questions. If I come across as being harsh,please don't take it that way, no one wants to see you or your friend get injured,or killed. have fun shooting,and be safe !

hey thanks for the reply thats no problem. like i said it take the long shell we just happend to have the magizine with and compared it to the shells. so like i said thanks for the reply
