The title throws it off a bit but it's a great read and I think that the majority of men on this forum can relate.  It's called, "In election 2008, don’t forget Angry White Man" by Gary Hubbell in the Aspen Times.

Here is the link:

[script removed] function createQString(s) { return escape(s); } var Heading = "In%20election%202008%2C%20don%92t%20forget%20Angry%20White%20Man"; var tempTitle = createQString(Heading); var Title = "&t="+tempTitle; [script removed]http://www.aspentimes.com/article/2008198091324

Let me know what you think........

Skimmed this one but I'm heading out the door. Will read it better when I get home. What little I did see raised a few hairs on the back of my neck though.

Ever been to Aspen? You'll notice there is'nt any minorities around, unless they were brought in to service the ski industry. It is a melting pot of the rich white folks from around the country. Every once in a while someone takes advantage of the small town newspaper to try an get a message around the country which no other big town newspaper will print. Most times it backfires.

It is a "good" article. It could have been "great" if it were just titled "Angry American Man".

Oh, I almost forgot. It would have been really good if he would have included american women in the article. Last I heard they were able to vote also. And do the white men of this country really have anything to complain about, after all, are'nt they the ones that have been running it for the last 230 years.

I agree the title should have been the Angry American People, but it's content is truthful. It doesn't matter to me what color a person is,if they can do the job.
I live in the south and I hear racism crap all the time and I say to both sides let the old days go.I get so tired of hearing of it.
Would we rather argue and fight or get this great nation back on the right track ?
I say stop the illeagal immagration because it takes jobs from those born in this country and those who have come here legally and if you live here....speak ENGLISH and to these tele marketers ddon't have some yahoo that can't speak understandable english....don't call.

Now I`m not from the U.S. but I would have to agree that it should be ANGRY AMERICAN PEOPLE , we are plagued with the same issues here in Canada too many immigrants taking away jobs from people that were born here. It`s pretty bad when the government that you had a hand in electing are taking out T.V ads to entice more immigration by offering FREE training in everything from apprenticeship courses to transport driving , while poor stiffs like myself have to fight tooth and nail in order to be able to afford living. Furthermore most of these a-holes can`t even speak the language, pretty soon we`re going to have to change our counrty`s name to AFGHANICANISTAN.

Agreed.... would have set better with me had is said ANGRY AMERICAN MEN... or PEOPLE.

The part for me that was a little strange.. was this:

"He’s not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He’s willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English"

He is willing huh? Sounds a little snobbish to me, or superior. I don't like some of the wording.... not to say I don't understand some of the general frustrations it is implying. Could have left some of the sexual comments out of it too. Just my opinion.

I do agree with leaving the sexual stuff out, like the strip club thing. I didn't like that for myself because I never go near those places.

Yes, the title should have been for Angry American People or something along those lines. I just felt that many of the things depicted in that article are views/feelings that a lot of amercan PEOPLE (not men) have.

Personally I feel like this country is going down the tubes because of a lot of things that were mentioned in that article, and other things that weren't mentioned. ILLEGAL immigration, welfare, unemployment, healthcare, the spoken language in this country, viewpoints of gov. officials compared to the people...................The list goes on and on.

I didn't start this thread to be an issue about men, I started it because these are issues for American People as well as Canada I suppose as Ontarioben has chimed in.

After reading it for a third time it seems that the author of the article is upset that polititians in general are all focusing their attention on getting the minority voters b/c those are the ones that can make or break their run for the big house on the hill. The author sounds like he feels left out or discarded b/c he`s an angry white guy who the main characters of this game they call politics hasn`t cared to mention in their campain, just a thought.

Here is what I found really contradictry about it. In one part...the writer says that the "angry white man" is either a democrat or republican...however in the end he says that the "AWM" wishes Hillary gets elected and then wishes she gets beaten. If he were a democrat then why would we be angry about a dem winning. Some parts of it are alot like me but I think it should read "angry average joe working american." Doesn't matter if you are black, white, man, woman or what...most people are just trying to get by in this crappy economy and we could use some real change. The exciting thing is I think we will get it.

Yep... Crappy economy. Getting sidetracked yet keeping to the financial aspect. I never thought I would get into the "robbing peter to pay paul" syndrome. I have recently. Rising groceries, gas, cost of medical, and being a single mom, means I have to juggle at times which is more important. There was a time I could afford it all without sweating... now I sweat bullets. I'm sure everyone does. Families, single fathers, single mothers, elderly couples, people just starting out. What also hurt me was lack of child support payments, that my ex husband decided he did not need to pay about 8 months ago. Deadbeat parents who don't pay court ordered means of support really don't know how badly they hurt the children when they don't pay. Everything hurts financially. I hope it does get better soon. This is the longest financial bleak mode I have been in for a long time.

this is the way i read it also.how can he speak for women or minorities if he's not one?that would have set people off for a different reason.to me it seems as if being a white male we should feel guilty.you don't agree?just look at lumberricks 3rd post.

Dec67. If you feel guilty, too bad. I know I don't. Us angry white guys have been the shepards, to the flock for as long as this country has been in existance. When the wolves tear apart the flock, who is really to blame?
Things have gotten way out of hand with immigration, no doubt. Some guy writes an article that stirs up a couple thousand people, and its ordained as the new testament. When somebody crashed our party and started crapping in the punchbowl, we did'nt notice because we were to busy telling hunting stories to an audience of 50 people. So now we all rally together and use our vote on someone who fits our values, but because we are the minority now, our votes are wasted on someone who is not electable. Like Ron Paul. So, now this country is so bleeding heart liberal, for the 1st time in a long time, we have no candidate that represents us.

Now when someone stands up and says don't forget us. Its like closing the barn door after the cows escaped.
We crapped in our bed long ago, now we are sleeping in it. TTFN

Let's keep this civil and not so pointedly calling out one another posts. This is a stirring, thought provoking reading and let's just all have differences of opinions and also show one another respect.
