If I were you, I'd check out the Benelli Nova, Remington 870, or the Mossberg 835. They are all about the same price. A 20 ga. would probally do a great job and won't put a hurtin on your shoulder if you ever have a really good day where you are shooting a lot.

Even on the hottest or coldest days, deer still eat, fish still swim, so why not go and get 'em.

I use a mossberg 500  12 ga it fits me better than the 835,the stock on the 835 is longer it hits my arm pit when i pull it up. you can get them fairly reasonable price, I bought mine used for $179

Personally, I use an old Revelation SxS 20 gauge with dual triggers. My grandfather picked it up at Western Auto for $56 (I still have the receipt). Since these firearms are no longer available at a reasonable price, I would recommend a Remington 870 Youth Model in 20 gauge. It is shorter, lighter and quicker to the shoulder than a standard 870.

If you want a challange with a scatter gun,try a 410 single shot.Used to be my favorite, until shells for it got so expensive.

I use a Mossburg 500 pump in 410 for rabbit, grouse, and and other small game. I have also been known to use a 22cal on grouse, squirrel, and rabbit as well. Try a 22...That is a blast!!

If you don't mind the singleshot, I would go with the new england firearms 12, or 20 gauge. this way if you ever want a diffrent gun you can just order a new barrel for next to nothing. It will be alot cheaper to buy this gun and barrels than to buy a new gun every time you want one. thats what I did, and It shoots awsome.

.410 is what my 9 yr old uses, but shells are so costly !!. Otherwise I have an old single shot 16 ga passed down from my grandfather that I love using for rabbit and squirrel.
