| My wife has a Remington 260 and it's sweet little rifle.I killed a deer this past season and it preformed very well, although I have not tried it a longer ranges.I have it sighted in dead on at 100 yds, most of our shots are less than 100 yds. I really like the one we have(Model Seven),it's a youth model because of my wife's small frame. | | Tubby The God of My Rock;He Is My Sheild; And The Horn Of My Salvation 2 Samuuel,Ch 22 | |

| | I also have the 260 remington model 7 youth for my fiance'. awsome little gun. very little recoil. I shot a small buck with it this year at 280 yards. It dropped right in its tracks. When she doesnt go hunting, I usually take that gun with me, instead of my 308. | | | |

| | 260 and 7mm-08 are almost the same,you'll have a larger selection of bullit weights in the 7mm than in the 260 | | | |

| | As similar to what btr568 alluded to, I would go for the 7mm-08. If you are set on the .260, it is a great caliber for your needs. I would also consider a .25-06. | | | |
