Man, I am not enjoying the Labor Day holiday right now. The scales were not kind to me following our weekend trip to my dad’s river lot in north Alabama.

During August my daily ritual has been to weigh on Friday and Monday mornings. Last Friday I weighed 245.5 pounds. I weighed 264 pounds when I began my journey and had lost almost 20 pounds by last Friday

Needless to say, I was stoked!!

Then, after the weekend up at the river, I weighed in at 249.5 pounds. I had regained 4 pounds. Bummer!!

I did not over eat, and thought that I had behaved myself pretty well. Thinking back on it, I made a few bad decisions. I had a couple of helpings of desert (pineapple pudding) during a few of moments of weakness. Plus, I ate a little too much smoked Boston Butt. Both foods were temptations I could not pass up.

I also attribute a lot of my weight gain to being away from my base which where I can control the foods I eat and my workout routines. Another conspiring factor to the added weight was due to the fact that the gym I visit was closed Sunday and Monday for the holiday.

Herein lies the quandary. What would you have done? You could either stay at home, or you could visit with family you don’t get to see much of, and relax a little. Add in the fact that people are watching your progress, and I think you can see where I am coming from.

Of course I chose the latter. I am glad I did because I spent time with them, as well as my immediate family. As a result my routine suffered, and I lost some of my progress.

I am not feeling too jazzed about tomorrows check up with the folks over at Auburn Montgomery, but hopefully the measurements will show some progress over the last month.

I’ll post the results of tomorrow’s check up as soon as I get back to the office.

Til then,

J.D.
