Right now I want to share with you where I am hunting this fall and give you some information about the companies who are supporting my endeavor.
This November I have been blessed to go hunting with Travis Simpson and Dan Langlois in Buffalo County, Wisconsin. For those of you who have never heard of Buffalo County, Wisconsin, I’m letting a well-kept secret out of the bag.
Buffalo County is the top-ranked county in the U.S.A for having the most entries recorded in the Boone and Crocket record books. The county has twice as many entries in the book as the number two county on the list, a whopping 45 entries. To put that into perspective, the 2 counties tied for second place have 23 entries each. These two counties combined beat Buffalo County by one entry.
To say that there are some bruisers up there is an understatement.
Travis and Dan work for the Archdiocese in this part of the country, and each year they hold a few select whitetail hunts. All of the proceeds fund the family charities that this Archdiocese funds each year.
I’ve said it several times here that it seems like there is a “hand” guiding this project, and this just adds to it. I cannot explain how easy this has all fallen into place. For those who know me, that will come as a shock. Usually, I couldn’t get a train to run on a greased, downhill track. This has been a blessing.
So pass the word. If anyone you know is looking for a great hunt that will help out a great cause, tell them to contact me at Buckmasters, and I will hook them up with these guys. A chance at some monster bucks, and you get to help out some families in need in the process. What could be better than that??
There are some outdoor manufactures that have given to this project as well. You can see them on my Myspace page featuring pictures and posts on this project. (www.myspace.com/jdhart2007)
In no particular order, they are:
A. Gorilla Tree Stands - Greyback Magnum Deluxe Treestand
B. Bowtech Archery - Guardian center pivot Bow - Left hand – 60-pound draw
C. Carbon Express Arrows - Maxima Hunter weight forward arrows.
D. American Broadhead - Buckmasters Broadhead - 100 grain
E. Eastman Outfitters - 3-D Ground Blind
All of these products are state-of-the-art, and have made my shooting better. I can’t thank any of them enough in helping out with this project, and hope I can bring home the bacon for them. All of them gave unselfishly, and are in total support of this project.
To wrap up this post, I mentioned last time that there had been some exciting developments in the publicity of this project.
Last week, Dr. Olson e-mailed us to that the feature we filmed with the local CBS affiliate here in Montgomery may go national. It seems that the American Journal of Cardiology released a study that says pretty much what we have been saying for a couple of months now - heart attacks are killing hunters in larger and larger numbers. They say that the stress and strain hunting puts on an out of shape hunter can lead to serious consequences. Here is the link to the story.

Dr. O was fired up because we were way out in front of the national news. I must say that I felt a little swell of pride. It isn’t every day you get to beat the professional journalists at their own game. This was one of those times.
Again, things just seem to fit right into place. There are greater forces at work here. I am just along for the ride.
My monthly check up is fast approaching, and I am getting anxious to see the progress I have made. I am already feeling better physically and mentally. Indeed, my future is looking brighter.
Until next time,
