| It's Crunch Time Folks | | J.D. Hart

| It's crunch time folks. I have 18 days left until I make my way to Wisconsin. Archery practice hit a new plateau. My confidence level is growing daily and I'm shooting out to 45 yards. I have practiced from a sitting position. The only thing I have left to do is to practice while wearing my hunting clothes. Speaking of clothes, I am more than a little concerned about what I'll need to wear. Hunting in Wisconsin during November can offer a WIDE range of temperatures. The advice given to me from my fellow co-workers is to dress in layers. This will give me the option to add or take off layers as needed. It is the unpredictable Wisconsin weather that has me frazzled. I have also been stocking up on hunting gear and noticed that my old grunt call was looking a little tatter ... | | |

| Update | | J.D. Hart
| By dhart on10/2/2007 11:58 AM | |
| I'd like to apologize for not posting an update in a couple of weeks. As you may expect, this is the crazy time of year here at Buckmasters, and extra time to write is at a premium. Add to that the fact that my family has been battling one sickness after another. Plus, every extra minute I have has been devoted to getting ready to for archery season, and that is a recipe for lackadaisical posting and exercising. I feel good about the progress I have made. I have lost 20 pounds since this project started, and I do not get winded nearly as easy as I did before. I feel confident that I can walk in to any hunting environment, and not have to wheeze my way to the stand. On this hunt, we will be boating into some pretty remote locales, and the thought of that used to fill me with trepida ... | | |

| I don't know how this happens to me every year: All summer it feels like hunting season is never going to get here; then it's upon me so fast that I'm not even close to having anything ready.
I'm sure that part of the problem is that it's so hot for so long here in Alabama. October is here and we're still getting highs in the 90s every day -- not exactly stand-hanging weather. But even if it wasn't for that, I'd still be behind. It seems that nothing goes right for me when it comes to equipment. Actually, I should qualify that; my bow is shooting very well. When I do my part, it hits exactly where I'm aiming. It even seems to cut me a ...

| Slow Going | | J.D. Hart

| I hit a wall on losing weight. I have been eating right, and exercising, but I seem to have stopped shedding the pounds. My weight has not budged the last two weeks. I still weight 254 ½ pounds.
I am going to get out of bed earlier and knock out half of my daily workout routine in the morning, and finish it up in the evening. Hopefully this tactic will spark my continued weight loss. I am also going to meet up with Mike Esco, my trainer from Auburn Montgomery, later this week and modify my weight training.
I suspect that these two modifications will help jump start my health kick. I hope so, because it’s tough working hard at something without seeing any improvements. I realize my body is healthier on the inside, but that doesn’t keep the momentum going like visible results.
On another note, I am going to post video of my archery exercises and practice. These clips will hit our website in the next few days.

Psst. Hey you. I said, PSST. HEY YOU! Maybe you had trouble hearing me because you're one of an estimated 28 million Americans who suffer some form of hearing loss. Hear those high-pitched crickets? I do. Doctors describe tinnitus as a constant ringing in one or both ears, but it's always reminded me of hundreds of crickets sounding off at once on a warm summer evening, only at a highe ...

| After having a restless night, and with a little trepidation, I went to my first checkup with the folks over at Auburn Montgomery’s (AUM) Human Performance Lab. They were cordial, inviting, and quickly put me at ease. It is a true testament to their professionalism.
After running me through the paces, and measuring this and that, they handed my report card to me. Here are the results:

| Labor Day Weekend Woes | | J.D. Hart
| By dhart on9/4/2007 11:45 AM | |
| Man, I am not enjoying the Labor Day holiday right now. The scales were not kind to me following our weekend trip to my dad’s river lot in north Alabama.
During August my daily ritual has been to weigh on Friday and Monday mornings. Last Friday I weighed 245.5 pounds. I weighed 264 pounds when I began my journey and had lost almost 20 pounds by last Friday
Needless to say, I was stoked!!
Then, after the weekend up at the river, I weighed in at 249.5 pounds. I had regained 4 pounds. Bummer!!
I did not over eat, and thought that I had behaved myself pretty well. Thinking back on it, I made a few bad decisions. I had a couple of helpings of desert (pineapple pudding) during a few of moments of weakness. Plus, I ate a little too much smoked Boston Butt. Both foods were temptations I could not pass up.
I also attribute a lot of my weight gain to being away from my base which where I can control the f ...

| Where There's a Hand, There's a Will | | J.D. Hart

| Last time, I left off by saying that there had been some exciting happenings on the publicity front. I’ll get to that in a moment.
Right now I want to share with you where I am hunting this fall and give you some information about the companies who are supporting my endeavor.
This November I have been blessed to go hunting with Travis Simpson and Dan Langlois in Buffalo County, Wisconsin. For those of you who have never heard of Buffalo County, Wisconsin, I’m letting a well-kept secret out of the bag.
Buffalo County is the top-ranked county in the U.S.A for having the most entries recorded in the Boone and Crocket record books. The county has twice as many entries in the book as the number two county on the list, a whopping 45 entries. To put that into perspective, the 2 counties tied for second place have 23 entries each. These two counties combined beat Buffalo County by one entry.

| The Update | | J.D. Hart

| The fight goes well. Thanks to the customized eating plan and the exercise program I have lost 15 pounds. I feel a lot better and the routine is becoming a habit. That is half the battle for me.
My last post mentioned that I would share with you my workout program and eating plan. So here we go.
The eating program was created by professors at AUM and it is a very simple plan that you can develop to fit your dietary needs. It is created with the help of the USDA’s new pyramid system called “My Pyramid.” All you have to do is go to www.mypyramid.com, put in your goals, and the site generates an eating plan that will get you to your goals. It even gives you tracking sheets so you can print out and track your daily progress, which to me is the key to any successful diet/exercise plan. It really is that simple. If you are wanting to make a positive change, there is a mountain of good information there. Use it to your advantage.< ...
