-- What a weekend we have had. Our chapter sponsored three youth hunts this weekend. One was a special life hunt at Star Valley Ranch in Brown County with a young hunter with advanced Juvenile diabetes. He took a nice 115 class eight point and a doe. His first two deer! Our chapter along with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department also conducted a youth hunt on this ranch for six other young hunters.
I along with other chapter member Bennie Rice held another youth hunt a the Fotasjax Ranch in McCullouch County. It was also co-sponsored by the Texas parks and Wildlife Department to conduct management doe harvests at this ranch. We had 10 youth hunters from the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization that stayed the weekend at the ranch. They had a great time not just hunting whitetail does, but seeing all the other exotic animals that are on the ranch. Fotasjax is a historic landmark of the Heart of Texas and has lots of Indian artifacts and early settler landmarks about the 3,700 acres Ranch that borders the Colorado River.
