Applications for limited permit areas deadline Aug. 24

-- Applications for the 2012 Limited Permit Antlerless Deer Season are now available at all Division of Natural Resources district offices, Elkins Operations Center and South Charleston Headquarters, and online at http://www.wvdnr.gov/hunting/PDFFiles/HUNTantPermit07.pdf.
Limited permit areas provide antlerless deer hunting opportunities in counties or areas of the state where wildlife biologists have determined that limited numbers of antlerless deer permits are necessary to meet management objectives.
Two wildlife management areas, Elk River and Upper Mud River, one state forest, Calvin Price, national forest land in Tucker County and five counties or portions of Clay, Fayette, Nicholas, Pocahontas and Webster counties will have a limited number of Class N licenses for resident and Class NN licenses for non-resident antlerless deer hunting from Oct. 25-27 on private land only and Nov. 19 through Dec. 1, Dec. 13 to 15 and Dec. 28 to 31 on private and public land.
Applications for these limited antlerless deer hunting licenses must be received before the close of business Aug. 24.
The 2012 limited antlerless deer season will provide an opportunity for 650 resident and non-resident hunters s to participate on the two WMAs, one state forest, and national forest land in Tucker County.
An additional 1,500 residents and nonresidents will be selected to hunt antlerless deer in the five counties or portions of Clay, Fayette, Nicholas, Pocahontas and Webster counties with restricted antlerless deer hunting.
