Agreed, you should be very proud of that deer HuntingInMaine. I would be tickled pink to have such a nice buck as my 1st deer. He is a prime example of a " rutted up buck " with that massive neck.
I am very proud, now if I could just get another one.  He certainly smelled like a rutted up buck! lol
I was very lucky to have gotten him. I was hunting with my son, Nick, who was 9 years old and chattered more then a red squirrel. I had him sit on a stone wall while I went a few yards ahead to see if there was a better spot to sit for the afternoon. I reminded him (for the one millionth time) to be quiet. I hadn't taken a couple steps when he hollers "Mom, there's a deer.....a BIG one!!!"
The buck was walking right towards him, but when he hollered to me the buck turned and ran right in front of me. Boy was I glad Nick "forgot" to be quiet. I wouldn't have had a shot at the buck on his original path because it would have meant shooting over my son and no deer is worth that. Nick is now old enough to hunt in our state and reminds me that he isn't going to holler the next time a big one is headed his way.

That is an awesome story! I never got to hunt with my mom, but she was never really into hunting. City girl ! She always used to complain when me and my brothers cooked deer meat in the house. Said she couldn't stand the smell. I love it ! |

hey tubby good to see you again!
i have been so busy i have not had time to get on here much.
this week i am enjoing gods fall holy days know as the feast of tabernacles.
a time for family and fun. lev 23 and zec 14. ect. god is so great!!
thur i will head upto sc for a few days of hunting.
