I was wondering if it`s a smart idea to try and rattle or call during windy days ? I went out today in the wind and the only deer I saw were the ones I jumped on my way into my stand.

theres a reason you jumped those deer, on really windy days deer will most often bed down till the wind subsides. Their noses still work but it's real hard for them to hear. so they will bed down in cover so they can smell and see what might be aproching. A good tatic for hunting on windy days is still hunting or spot and stalk.

I gotta agree with bowfreak. I might add that on windy days deer will often bed in open areas. Most times this is a lump of brush or high grass, or in a grassy field. To compensate for the fact that stuff is moving too much for them to diffferintiate between things and that they can't hear, they try and position themselves where they can see danger approaching from a distance. I'm a big one for having multiple plans in place for adverse weather, for after the gun season starts, and things like that. So always be ready to change your hunting tactics according to what is going on.
