My favorite deer gun is a 12ga Ted Williams model 120 (Winschester model1200) sold in Sears many many years ago Its a smoothbore pump action and I shoot remingtom 1 oz sluggers in it. Most of my shots are in the woods and the open sites give me an advantage over a scoped gun. But in the wide open field I feel confident shooting 100 yds. At 100yds my slug drops 8". At 50yds its dead on. I've used this gun for 30 years now so I feel comforable using it. Its easy to care for and takes a beating each year but shoots the same way year after year. |

Till now it has been my 7mm (22 and bow on our public land) but my girlfriend bought me a 17hmr and I cant wait to try it. I've tested it aginst some other calibers(damage, pennetration, ballistics) and i love the results I've seen so far. |

Well, I really have a hard time to decide, my Marlin mod.30AS in 30-30 kill's them pretty dead. Still the Winchester Mod. 70 in .270 hasn't really had a hard time killing them either. My dad's 30-30 Savage bolt has been known to stop a heart. I haven't dared to shoot a deer with the Marlin 444 yet, because I am afraid that I won't get a chance to eat any of the meat.(SPLAT) I just picked up a Marlin 336CS in 35 Rem., I am anxious to hunt with that one. My TC Contender in 7-30 Waters seems quite promising, as well as my Traditions .50 cal. Maybe this year I'll try one of the .357's, Colt or Ruger. I guess that I like any thing that will get the job done with out much tracking. |

Right now it is my 12 ga., Mossberg 500 shotgun. Most of the state I live in is Shotgun only.
The bottom two tiers for the southern counties of my state has a rifle season in January. And I do want to try it some day, if or when I get the money to get me a good deer rifle to go do it with.

Remington 30-06's. I have three but out of the three it is my Remington Model 700 ADL with synthetic stock 6-12x44 Tasco scope and bipod that I take to the woods. I also have a Remington Model 742 BDL 30-06 semi-auto with a 3-9x40 Tasco scope and a Remington Model 760 BDL 30-06 pump with a 3-9x40 Tasco scope. I have used both to take some nice bucks in the past, but now my love is the 700. The pump and semi don't see much action now. |

Oh Dude you so badly need a muzzleloader - They are awesome they will shoot about a 2 in group at 200 yds. Put a Nikon Omega Scope on a TC Omega and run a wet then a dry patch down the barrel after each shot and use 150 gr of tripple 7 with a Barnes 250 gr Sabbot. Rifle season in Union Co and Appanoose Co is OK but its really cold by then, I'd rather knock down some does in Bow season, but I do get a farm unit tag to give the sniper rifle a kill.

I have several and no specific favorite. I would say my choise is based on the area im hunting , thickness of cover , shot ranges ect I guess my fav would be one of my pretty rifles like my 700BDL or my Gold Medallion ect but ive shot 10X more deer with a real beat up marlin .44mag lever action you have to single load , have some rust spots , scratches ect and has spent its whole life as a behind the seat of a truck , laying in a canoe , in the corner of the cabin as a back up ect. It doesnt seem like it should be the one thats killed the most but I guess life works that one some times. |

Well my favorite is a bit of a trick question. I thoroughly enjoy hunting with my new Mossberg 30-06, however the S&W 12 guage I have has treated me well, as has my Rem Model 1100 12 ga. But after those three I would have to say my Bow. |

well it used be a Browning Bar II 7mag with a Boss with a really good Nikon dialed in to perfection. It'd shoot groups you could cover with a dime,at one of the clubs I used to hunt we had a kid that always came to hunt with one of the members son(they was both 14)anyways this kid was always borrowing cloths, gear, rifles to hunt with(boy lived to hunt).I finally asked enuf questions, found out he was poor as a church mouse,so my last year hunting with this club,I gave him the rifle for Christmas. To this day,I always wonder if I was drunk or plain ol' crazy doing that, but it still makes me feel pretty good haveing done it so I guess it was a fair trade.Nowadays I have several 7mm-08's,British 303(hogg'n rifle)Encore with several barrels,308 and some others that I use,and my Blackhawk 44 mag,but none will ever conpare to that Browning mag |

Boy that's a good one? A few years ago when the hogs were running wild here at Benning, I would take one gun out until I harvested a deer or hog, then change to the next. And thats going through a lot of rifles. To pick one would have to be my Browning 308 BAR, however hunting here in georgia, my Deerfield 44 comes in 2nd. Pistols would be the 480 ruger. And next year I'll change my mind agian. |

For years I hunted with a slug gun because that was all I had. Then for years it was a British Enfield 303. I liked that gun and killed a lot of deer with it but it sure was heavy! Finally I purchased a Browning A-Bolt synthetic in Rem 7mm Mag. I used that for two years until I purchased a Browning Eclipse in Rem 7mm Mag. Since I can only afford one rifle at a time, I guess my favorite would be the one I own! |

I was using the 270 most of this season. But I just purchased the 300WSM last week, new in the box. (Thanks to Wally World) I am going to use it for awhile. |

My favorite is my custum built 6.5/06 with a douglas 26 inch medium sporter airgauged barrel. Killed over 20 bucks with it none have gone more than 10 yards. That is from 40 to 400 yards. At 300 she will put 3 in the bottom of a styrofoam cup. Don't have to be kicked like a mule to shoot far.
My second is my Rugar MK II in .260. It kills them dead too. |

For year I have been hunting with my Custom Built 270. I have taken all species of deer,Elk,Caribou,Bear and hogs with this gun and caliber. Never wounded or lost any game to date. I use my Encore for muzzleloading. The last 2 years I have been using my Encore in the 7m-08 cal. It is a great medium long range cal. If you have not had the opportunity to try the 7m-08 you wont be dissapointed. |

I recently got an old J.C Higgins Mod. 50 in .270 Win. It has a Mauser action and an awesome Bushnell scope. A friend sold it to me for $150.00. Can't complain! |

I have many and it is hard to choose the best. My favorite to shoot and hunt with tied between two... 1. Remington Model 700 chambered in 30-06 with synthetic stock and parkerized barrel, 2. Marlin XL7 chambered in 25-06 with synthetic stock, Pro-Fire trigger system, parkerized reciever and barrel with fluted bolt. I also like my original German K98 8x57 Mauser, my Marlin 336 chambered in 30-30 made in 1973, my Remington Model 742 BDL and Model 760 BDL both chambered in 30-06. The only rifle I don't like is one I don't have. |

I use a .30-06 or a .308 for almost all of my hunting, although I still like to take my .30-30 iron sight into the bush! |

I have two. Mosin Nagant model 93 7.62x54R using Nosler ammo, and Enfield No.4 mark 1/2 in .303 Brit. Both are good long range shooters with open sites. |
