Well, I really have a hard time to decide, my Marlin mod.30AS in 30-30 kill's them pretty dead. Still the Winchester Mod. 70 in .270 hasn't really had a hard time killing them either. My dad's 30-30 Savage bolt has been known to stop a heart. I haven't dared to shoot a deer with the Marlin 444 yet, because I am afraid that I won't get a chance to eat any of the meat.(SPLAT) I just picked up a Marlin 336CS in 35 Rem., I am anxious to hunt with that one. My TC Contender in 7-30 Waters seems quite promising, as well as my Traditions .50 cal. Maybe this year I'll try one of the .357's, Colt or Ruger. I guess that I like any thing that will get the job done with out much tracking. |

Right now it is my 12 ga., Mossberg 500 shotgun. Most of the state I live in is Shotgun only.
The bottom two tiers for the southern counties of my state has a rifle season in January. And I do want to try it some day, if or when I get the money to get me a good deer rifle to go do it with.

Remington 30-06's. I have three but out of the three it is my Remington Model 700 ADL with synthetic stock 6-12x44 Tasco scope and bipod that I take to the woods. I also have a Remington Model 742 BDL 30-06 semi-auto with a 3-9x40 Tasco scope and a Remington Model 760 BDL 30-06 pump with a 3-9x40 Tasco scope. I have used both to take some nice bucks in the past, but now my love is the 700. The pump and semi don't see much action now. |

Oh Dude you so badly need a muzzleloader - They are awesome they will shoot about a 2 in group at 200 yds. Put a Nikon Omega Scope on a TC Omega and run a wet then a dry patch down the barrel after each shot and use 150 gr of tripple 7 with a Barnes 250 gr Sabbot. Rifle season in Union Co and Appanoose Co is OK but its really cold by then, I'd rather knock down some does in Bow season, but I do get a farm unit tag to give the sniper rifle a kill.

I have several and no specific favorite. I would say my choise is based on the area im hunting , thickness of cover , shot ranges ect I guess my fav would be one of my pretty rifles like my 700BDL or my Gold Medallion ect but ive shot 10X more deer with a real beat up marlin .44mag lever action you have to single load , have some rust spots , scratches ect and has spent its whole life as a behind the seat of a truck , laying in a canoe , in the corner of the cabin as a back up ect. It doesnt seem like it should be the one thats killed the most but I guess life works that one some times. |
