Looking for a new rifle for deer and hog hunting, and was considering the 300 wsm. I like the savage 114 american classic but it only holds 2 rounds and for almost $800 it doesnt seem worth it, remington has the mod 700 in 300 wsm with walnut stock for 670. Im looking for one that has wood stock, any reccomendations?

im looking for one of the two calibers, a 300 wsm or a 300 win mag, i prefer a 300 win mag because the bullets are cheaper and easier to find were I live. price range max $700

lol 300s must not be a popular gun on here, ive found to that I like one is the ruger m77 300 win mag and the other is a weatherby vanguard 300 win mag, gotta get a price check on both but the weatherby was almost $400 last time I checked.

There is nothing wrong with the 300. It's not my favorite caliber, but that seems to be like anything else...preference and ego getting in the way of sense. It will do a good job on any big game animal. Good luck.

I bought a weatherby vangaurd in 300wsm had it 2yrs. shot a 1in group right out of box. i have a leopold scope with lrd reticle and is calibrated well with this gun out to 500yds. ireload my own ammo so cost isnt aproblem. shooting a 180 grn bullet it holds velocity well. for the price ($600) i think this is a very nice gun
