I'm new to bow hunting and I've been trying to pick up as much info as I can before I get in the stand. I've rifle hunted for a long time so hunting is not new for me but gauging distance with my bow is. A friend recommended using a range finder, but is there any tricks or simpler way to get the distance for a shot with out fumbling between a range finder and then my bow?

Use the rangefinder during your set up. Pick out differant landmarks and range them and remember the ranges for the landmarks. you will be limited to a relatively short range so the differant distances should not be to hard to remember. Use natural land marks as apposed to ones you place there yourself, this wlil insure that you leave no scent at the marker. Pick markers where you guess the deer might appear. After tat use your best judgement to range from these landmarks. Hope this works for you
