Hunters take 79,429 deer in firearms season

Harvest of 45,871 bucks down 25% from 2015

Electronic game checking system data indicates deer hunters harvested 45,871 bucks during the two-week buck firearms season from Nov. 21 to Dec. 3. The results show the buck harvest is down 25 percent from last year’s harvest of 60,814.

Nearly 6,500 antlerless deer harvested Dec. 2-4

Preliminary data shows deer hunters in Missouri harvested 6,491 deer during the antlerless portion of the fall firearms deer season Dec. 2-4.
The top harvest counties were Callaway with 213 deer, Pike with 205, and Osage with 185.

Early numbers show decline in 9-day gun harvest

Preliminary numbers from Wisconsin’s annual 9-day gun show 196,785 deer were harvested, a decline compared to the 198,057 deer taken during 2015.
The largest change in buck harvest occurred in the Northern Forest Zone which saw a 30 percent increase from 2015 after two consecutive mild winters and limited antlerless tags.
