Removal effort nets 615 feral hogs on public, private lands

Crews from the Arkansas and Tennessee/Kentucky U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Wildlife Services, in cooperation with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Missouri Department of Conservation, removed 615 feral hogs on public and private land in northeast and southeast Arkansas.

Aerial operations were held Feb. 26-27 and March 1-2. For short periods, the WMAs were closed for public safety during the flights.

Feral hogs were removed from Trusten Holder, Cut-off Creek, Choctaw Island and Big Lake wildlife management areas and adjoining private lands.

The aerial operation was the result of planning and coordination of multiple partners, condensed into four days.
The AGFC, MDC and USDA APHIS organizations expressed thanks to the public for their patience and understanding while these activities were underway and apologizes for any inconvenience related to the operation.

Hog removal by area: Zig Lake WMA – 78; Trusten Holder WMA – 37; Cut-Off Creek WMA – 226; Choctaw Island WMA - 87; and Southeast Ark. Private Land – 187.
