Big game hunt applications due March 1

By Utah Division of Wildlife Resources

If you want to hunt big game animals in Utah this fall, the clock is ticking. Applications for hunting permits are due no later than 11 p.m. on March 1.

March 1 is also the last day to apply for a permit to hunt buck deer in Utah this fall.

The best way to apply is online.

Once hunters arrive at the webpage, they can locate information that to help decide which permits to apply for, and can then apply at that time.

Among items available online are maps, odds from the previous year’s drawing, and hunter success in various units last fall, as well as a link to the free 2018 Utah Big Game Application Guidebook, according to Lindy Varney, wildlife licensing coordinator.

"The page is a great resource that will help you narrow down which hunts you want to apply for," she said. " Good luck in this year's draw."

In addition to applying for a permit, Varney encourages those interested in a chance to hunt all three general deer seasons to consider joining Utah's Dedicated Hunter program. To learn more about the program click here.
