Exercise caution when searching the internet for information about hunting and fishing licenses, advises officials in the Division of Natural Resources.
“Several customers recently have reported websites that sell information about hunting and fishing in the Mountain State that is available to the public for free,” said Charles Kennedy, director of customer relations for the WVDNR.
“These websites can be confusing, and some customers thought they were purchasing a license when they were not,” he said. The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources’ official website is www.wvdnr.gov.
The site provides links to hunting and fishing regulations and other valuable information about hunting and fishing. The DNR’s online license system can be accessed at either www.wvhunt.com
or www.wvfish.com.
This is the only website where licenses can be purchased online.
There are websites that offer information and links to official DNR websites, but Kennedy says caution should be exercised whenever a site other than the DNR’s official site is asking for credit card information.
