The remaining 105,080 spring turkey hunt permits will become available to turkey hunters beginning March 20.
Following the 2017 spring turkey permit drawing, 135,307 successful applicants will receive permits. A total of 240,768 permits are available spring 2017 turkey season, with remaining permits available through over-the-counter sales beginning March 20 with Zone 1.

Postcard notifications to successful applicants have been mailed, and hunters can also monitor permit status online.

Hunters can also contact the DNR Customer Call Center from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week, at (888)936-7463.

Starting in 2017, the spring turkey season begins the third Wednesday in April. The season runs from April 19 through May 30, with 6 seven-day periods running Wednesday through the following Tuesday.

A total of seven zones and Fort McCoy will be open for hunting.

All harvested turkeys must be registered by phone at (844)426-3734 by 5 p.m. or the day after the harvest, or online.

No in-person registration stations will be available. Immediately upon taking a turkey, hunters must validate the tag by writing the date of kill and circling p.m. or a.m. This tag must remain intact and legible and must be attached to the turkey before leaving the carcass unattended.
