Big Time Texas Hunts program entry ends Oct. 15

By Texas Parks & Wildlife

October 15 is the last date to enter the Big Time Texas Hunts program to win one of 9 guided hunt packages available on ranches and wildlife management areas throughout Texas.

Entering the program requires a $9 entry fee and a $5 administrative fee per transaction. Hunters can purchase multiple entries and other licenses in a single transaction.

Proceeds from program, which supports public hunting opportunities and wildlife habitat conservation in Texas, have funded numerous projects such as bighorn sheep restoration, feral hog traps, new hunting blinds and hunt camp improvements.

Hunt packages include a three-to- five-day hunt for mature mule deer bucks in the Texas Panhandle. In 2015, winner Stephen Knowles harvested the largest scoring deer ever on a Texas Wildlife Management Area at 232 0/8 gross and 226 2/8 net.

Other hunts that can be won include big game hunts for desert bighorn sheep, mule deer, pronghorn and white-tailed deer.  Some unique hunts for gator, wild hog or exotics like sable antelope, gemsbok or axis deer as well as waterfowl and upland game birds.

All Big Time Texas Hunts packages include guide service, food and lodging and on-site transportation. Enter by calling (800)895-4248 or enter online.
