It isn't uncommon for enormous bucks to gain nicknames, whether bestowed before or after they're dead. But they're usually named for a distinguishing characteristic of antler, some other physical trait, the person who shot them, or the land they once roamed.

Few hunters haven't heard of the Hole in the Horn Buck, Ol' Mossy Horns, the Milo Hanson Buck and the Missouri Monarch.

The name Mike Behrmann might not ring a bell, but the deer he shot in Ohio last year was one of the most illustrious whitetails ever posted - and repeatedly shared - on Facebook. Social media followers know it as "The Living Room Buck."

Remember the photo of the bearded guy kneeling next to the huge, freshly harvested buck in the middle of his spic and span living room?

That was Mike. And, no, it wasn't his idea. It was his wife's.

When he arrived home with the giant whitetail in the back of his truck, Mike wanted to get some decent grip-and-grin photographs of it. The mix of rain and snow, however, made that impossible.

"My wife spoke up and said, ‘We need to get better pictures of this buck. Let's get it into the living room and get some good pictures!'" he told Ed Waite, who wrote the story for Rack magazine.

When the results of the impromptu photo shoot were shared on Facebook, they almost went viral. More people will remember the photo's composition than the buck with the 220 7/8-inch BTR composite score.

The story behind the hunt is pretty neat, too. If you'd like to order a back issue (July 2015, in this case), call 800-240-3337.
